Terms and Conditions for participation in Macquarie Warrant Hero powered by TradeHero
The Macquarie Warrant Hero competition (“Macquarie Warrant Hero” or “Competition”) is sponsored by Macquarie Capital Securities (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (“Macquarie”) and Supported by Bursa Malaysia Berhad (“Bursa”) and it is an in-app competition that is designed to enable eligible participants from Malaysia to trade Structured Warrants virtually within the TradeHero mobile application. Prizes will be awarded in accordance with these specific Terms and Conditions of participation.
TradeHero independently administers the Macquarie Warrant Hero in its sole discretion and any form of communication or enquiries in respect of the Competition should be directed to TradeHero and not Macquarie.
1. Competition Period
The Participation Period for the Macquarie Warrant Hero will begin at 09:00 hrs Malaysia Time (GMT+8) (“MYT”) on Monday 3 August 2015 and will end on Friday 23 October 2015 at 17:00 hrs MYT (the “Participation Period”). Within the Participation Period there will be a series of fortnightly and overall competitions, though others may be arranged during the Participation Period (as jointly determined by TradeHero and Macquarie, communicated through the mobile application).
2. Entry Requirements
- All Existing TradeHero accounts and accounts that are opened during the Competition period will automatically be able to participate in the Competition, provided that all other conditions of participation are met.
- To be eligible, participants must be Malaysia residents and at or over 18 years of age at time of registration to the Macquarie Warrant Hero. Those who do not meet these requirements will be disqualified from any participation. Participants can be of any nationality residing in Malaysia.
- Participants can sign up for the Macquarie Warrant Hero through the TradeHero app. In the case a Participant signs up for two accounts, he will only be eligible for one prize in respect of each fortnightly competition and the overall competition. Participants must register their own personal particulars and not use another person’s particulars to register for the Competition. Participants must not trade using another participant’s account.
- Participants must register using their names as stated in their National ID Card or Passports for verification purposes. Participants who fail to produce a valid form of identification will not be awarded prizes should they be declared winners for the respective prizes. Driver licenses will not be acceptable.
- All employees, interns, contractors and official office-holders, as well as their immediate families, of TradeHero and Macquarie, its affiliates, any representatives and any other persons professionally connected with the Competition are not eligible to participate.
3. Determination of Winners
The Competition offers multiple prizes during the Participation Period that are to be distributed based on virtual Structured Warrants trading performance and/or the performance on Trade Quests. . TradeHero and Macquarie will adjudge winning participants in their sole discretion. Participants will be ranked on the leaderboard, where the performance of their trades is marked to market.
There are total cash prizes of RM 100,000 to be won – 1 pre-registration prize (RM2,000), 3 Trade Quest prizes each fortnight (RM1,000 each) for the 6 fortnights, 3 Fortnight Leaderboard prizes (1st RM 5,000, 2nd RM 3,000, 3rd RM 2,000) for the 6 fortnights and 3 Overall Leaderboard prizes (1st RM 10,000, 2nd RM 6,500, 3rd RM 3,500) for the top performers over the whole Participation Period. Winners may have to come down to Macquarie office or Bursa Malaysia office to collect the winnings upon request.
All prizes are to be paid in the form of cross cheque or PayPal payment from TradeHero or Macquarie and may be subject to the relevant taxes. The fortnightly and overall leaderboard ranking competitions will be judged on the percentage gain of a participant and will be calculated using the TradeHero "Position-Level P&L;" ranking algorithm as follows:
For fortnight rewards
ROI = (total P&L over marked period / total invested over marked period) x 100
Where "total P&L over marked period" includes realised and unrealised profit and loss during the relevant period and "total invested" means the total amount a participant invested in Macquarie Derivatives Warrants during the relevant period.
For Overall rewards
ROI = (total P&L for the entire period / starting cash) x 100
ROI will be calculated after market close on the last trading day of the Participation Period for determining the overall prizes.
For Pre-registration Prize
Runs from 20 July to 03 August 2015. Participants have to go to TradeHero’s Fackbook page and share the post on Macquarie Warrant. Participants with the highest number of likes will win a cash prize of RM2,000. More details can be found on TradeHero Facebook page.
For Trade Quest
3 Trade Quest winners will be picked every fortnight based on the rules of the particular Trade Quest. The Trade Quests are as follows:

4. Parameters of Simulated Derivatives Warrants Trading
- Only trades that took place during the Participation Period will be taken into consideration.
- Each participant will start the Competition with an initial credit of RM100,000 virtual trading cash. Use of additional virtual trading cash will not offer a participant any additional advantage within the Competition as all participants will be ranked, and the determination of winners based, on their percentage returns using the TradeHero ranking algorithm.
- A minimum number of 1 unique Structured Warrants trade is required to be made in each relevant period to be eligible for the prize in each relevant period. No minimum holding period is applicable for warrant trading.
- Structured Warrants prices will be marked using the Mark to Market methodology. Structured Warrants traded on the Stock Exchange of Malaysia (“BURSA”) will be marked at the following times:
- HSI-underlying warrants will mark at 4:13pm MYT based on the prevailing bid price.
- China A50-underlying warrants will mark at 3:53pm MYT based on the prevailing bid price.
- BURSA-underlying Warrants will mark at 4:44pm MYT based on the prevailing bid price
- Participants may trade according to the Stock Exchange of Malaysia (BURSA) trading hours: 9:00 am - 12:30 pm, and 2:30 pm – 5:00pm.
- Short selling of Structured Warrants will not be allowed. Participants can only sell Structured Warrants they already own.
- If an order is placed for a warrant whose underlying is on a trading halt or suspension, the order will not be processed until the trading halt or suspension is lifted.
- If an underlying stock is delisted on the BURSA market, the corresponding Structured Warrants will be delisted in the Competition with the value that Macquarie announced in the real market
- If a Structured Warrants is held to expiry, the cash settlement amount will be credited to the relevant participant’s portfolio for the purposes of calculating the ROI.
- If any market disruption hinders the marking of prices, TradeHero reserves the right to mark those prices at the next available point.
- Only trades placed within core BURSA trading hours will be accepted in the competition. No queuing of orders will be done for execution on the next day. Only Macquarie issued structured Derivatives Warrants trading on the BURSA will be eligible for inclusion in the competition.
- There will be no volume or price limit constraints applied to competition trades. Competition board leaders will have their trades reviewed by TradeHero in order to ensure that there is no breach of the terms and conditions of the Competition.
- All existing constraints on trading within the TradeHero mobile application remain in force.
- In the event that two or more Macquarie Warrant Hero participants close with the same ranking, the participant with the highest portfolio value will be considered the winner amongst the participants.
5. Prizes
The participants of the various competitions running within the Macquarie Warrant Hero will be eligible to win prizes. The value of each prize will be disclosed via the Macquarie Warrant Hero leaderboard within the TradeHero mobile application. Computation of the fortnight winners will be done every 2 weeks starting from 17 August 2015, with prize winners receiving notifications on how to collect prizes the following week. Indicative results of the leading participants will be shown within the TradeHero app leaderboard every day. The final computation for the overall winners will take place 7 days after the Competition end with prizewinners being notified on how to collect their prizes within 15 days after the Competition end. It's the participants' responsibility to remain contactable via the email registered with TradeHero. Indicative results of the overall winners will be shown on the TradeHero app every day. Any potential winner who cannot be contacted within fifteen (15) days of attempted first notification will forfeit his or her prize.
In the event of a participant being eligible for a prize, only one account will be considered for the purposes of prize determination, and the participant is only eligible for one prize per category.
6. Use of Competition for Promotional Purposes
By registering and participating in the Macquarie Warrant Hero, all participants permit TradeHero, Macquarie and Bursa to access and use all data held on participants through the TradeHero app without any further claims or compensation for the purposes of the Macquarie Warrant Hero. If you are a winner, you agree that TradeHero, Macquarie and Bursa may use your name, other information and photographs to administer and promote the Macquarie Warrant Hero.
Throughout the Participation Period of the Macquarie Warrant Hero the rankings and results of participants will be published through TradeHero, Macquarie and any affiliated partners thereof. In cases where participants do not want their details published by TradeHero, Macquarie and or affiliated partners, a written request should be sent to [email protected] in order for such information to be removed. However, in such cases, the participant shall cease to be eligible to participate in the Macquarie Warrant Hero.
By registering in the Macquarie Warrant Hero, all participants permit Macquarie to access and use their name and email to send invitations for warrant seminars from Macquarie and Daily Trader newsletter. 7. Conduct
By entering the Macquarie Warrant Hero, eligible participants agree to comply and be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Failure to comply with these Terms
& Conditions may result in disqualification from the Macquarie Warrant Hero. Eligible Participants further agree to comply and be bound by the decisions of the Macquarie Warrant Hero judges, which are final and binding in all respects. TradeHero reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any participant if it finds it to be:
(1) tampering or attempting to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the Competition
(2) violating the specific Terms and Conditions of the Macquarie Warrant Hero or any of the general Terms and Conditions of the TradeHero mobile application
(3) acting in way that disrupts, or with intent to abuse, threaten or harass any other person. Any false information provided within the context of the
Competition by any participant concerning identity, postal address and non-compliance with the Terms and Conditions may result in the immediate elimination of a participant from the Macquarie Warrant Hero.
8. Disentitlement
In cases of any indiscretion or misuse in trading, such trades will not be taken into consideration and may even be removed from the participant's account. TradeHero reserves the right to disqualify any participant found in violation of the rules of the Macquarie Warrant Hero or applying any inappropriate trading strategy. Any participant who is found or suspected to have attempted to have manipulated the market or price of actual listed Structured Warrants and its underlying securities will be disqualified from the competition and referred to the relevant authorities.
9. Risk Acknowledgement
Prices shown in the Macquarie Warrant Hero are of indicative nature and subject to change. You should not use such prices when making any actual investment decisions.
No part of the information contained in the Macquarie Warrant Hero should be considered as investment advice or any form of recommendation to purchase or sell any financial products. The information does not take into account the investment objectives, financial situation and particular needs of each individual.
Structured Warrants can be volatile instruments and may be subject to considerable fluctuations in value. Past Performance is not indicative of future performance. Therefore Structured Warrants run the risk of expiring worthless resulting in a total loss of investment.
You are advised to consult, to the extent necessary, your own independent, competent, legal financial and other professional investor, when deciding whether to make any actual investment in the Structured Warrants to ensure any decision you make is suitable for you with regards to your circumstances and financial position.
10. Communication Delays
TradeHero will not be held responsible for any delay in the acceptance and/or transmission of trades due to the breakdown or failure of transmission and communication facilities, or for any other cause beyond their reasonable control and anticipation.
11. Postponement, Change or Cancellation
TradeHero and Macquarie, in their sole discretion, reserve the right to extend or postpone the trading period, change any prevailing marking times, prices, or methodologies, cancel or make changes to any user's trades and portfolio, cancel the Macquarie Warrant Hero and reject any participant's application if it is determined that such action is reasonable or necessary.
12. General Conditions
The Macquarie Warrant Hero is governed by the laws of Malaysia. By participating in the Macquarie Warrant Hero you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions and by TradeHero's decisions, which are final and binding on all matters pertaining to the Macquarie Warrant Hero. Any potential winner who cannot be contacted within fifteen (15) days of attempted first notification will forfeit his or her prize.
Each Macquarie Warrant Hero participant agrees not to act in any manner that might (1) infringe any third-party proprietary, intellectual property, personal rights or other rights; including without limitation, copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret or confidentiality obligation; or (2) otherwise violate applicable law in any country in the world.
To the extent permitted by the law, the rights to litigate, to seek injunctive relief or to any other recourse to judicial or any other procedure in case of disputes or claims resulting from or in connection with the Macquarie Warrant Hero are herby excluded, and you expressly waive any and all such rights. If any provisions in these Terms and Conditions are held to be invalid or unenforceable, all remaining provisions hereof will remain in full force and effect.
13. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, YOU INDEMNIFY AND AGREE TO KEEP INDEMNIFIED TRADEHERO AND MACQUARIE AT ALL TIMES FROM AND AGAINST ANY LIABILITY, CLAIMS, DEMANDS, LOSSES, DAMAGES, COSTS AND EXPENSES RESULTING FROM ANY ACT, DEFAULT OR OMISSION BY YOU AND/OR A BREACH OF ANY WARRANTY BY YOU SET FORTH HEREIN. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, YOU INDEMNIFY AND AGREE TO KEEP INDEMNIFIED TRADEHERO AND MACQUARIE AT ALL TIMES FROM AND AGAINST ANY LIABILITY, ACTIONS, CLAIMS, DEMANDS, LOSSES, DAMAGES, COSTS AND EXPENSES FOR OR IN RESPECT OF WHICH TRADEHERO AND MACQUARIE WILL OR MAY BECOME LIABLE BY REASON OF OR RELATED OR INCIDENTALTO ANY ACT, DEFAULT OR OMISSION BY YOU UNDER THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION RESULTING FROM OR IN RELATION TO ANY BREACH, NON-OBSERVANCE, ACT OR OMISSION WHETHER NEGLIGENT OR OTHERWISE, PURSUANT TO THESE RULES BY YOU. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, YOU AGREE TO HOLD TRADEHERO AND MACQUARIE, ITS RESPECTIVE DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES AND ASSIGNS HARMLESS FOR ANY INJURY OR DAMAGE CAUSED OR CLAIMED TO BE CAUSED BY PARTICIPATION IN THE CONTEST AND/OR USE OR ACCEPTANCE OF ANY PRIZE WON.
14. Competition Terms
TradeHero reserves the right to amend or waive any rule during or after this competition.
In cases where the Macquarie Warrant Hero Terms and Conditions are translated into a language other than English, then the English version of the Terms and Conditions shall prevail as the official language.
